FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - After swimming in a short-course yards pool at the AT&T Short Course Nationals, the Washington State University swim team moved to a 50 meter pool Sunday to battle a condensed field at the Long Course Invitational.
Michaela Ahlin swam under the NCAA "B" qualifying marks in both the 100 and 200 butterfly. The senior finished the 200 with a winning time of 2:15.78 and took third in the 100, touching the wall in 1:01.67.
Rugile Mileisyte had top-five finishes in both of her events as well. The Alytus, Lithuania native placed third in the 50 freestyle (27.00 seconds) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (57.97 seconds), both times just missed the NCAA standard.
The Cougars had two top-10 finishers in the 200 individual medley. Talor Whitaker finished fourth with a time of 2:25.58, while freshman Shelbi Luchini finished took sixth in 2:28.27. Whitaker also finished fourth in the 50 freestyle.
Shawan Keller finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.02 with Jessie Craig close behind in ninth (1:17.80). The finish was Keller's second top-10 finish on the day, placing eighth in the 50 freestyle.
