Cougar Swimming Duo Heads to World University Games

BELGRADE, Serbia - Washington State University swimmers Michaela Ahlin and Rugile Mileisyte will participate in the 2009 World University Games, July 5-11. Both Ahlin (Tyreso, Sweden) and Mileisyte (Alytus, Lithunaia) will represent their native country during the competition.

Ahlin will swim in six events, the 400 individual medley, 100 and 200 butterfly, 200 and 400 freestyle and the 400 medley relay. During her junior season in 2008-09, she set Cougar records in the 100 fly (53.40) and 200 fly (1:56.46) at the NCAA Championships where she also competed in the 500 free.

Mileisyte is scheduled to swim in the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 50 backstroke. As a sophomore in 2008-09, she set the WSU record in the 50 free (22.45) and competed at the NCAA Championships in that event as well as the 100 back. She owns the Lithuanian national record (30.04) in the 50 back.
