PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's swimming team ranks second in the nation in academics according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) and 12 Cougars were recently selected to the Pac-10 Conference All-Academic Team.
The Cougars received "Superior" recognition for their combined 3.38 GPA fall semester by the CSCAA. This is the second consecutive year that WSU has made its mark among the CSCAA's top 10 schools in the nation. Last season, Washington State tied for 10th with Penn State with a 3.23 GPA.
"We are once again No. 1 in the Pac-10 and I think this shows how complete the program is in academics," WSU coach Rocco Aceto said. "I was very excited to hear the news. To be in the top 10 will be expected every year after now."
The Pac-10 Conference named seniors Anna Hohmann and Julie Thom to the All-Academic second team.
Thom makes her third appearance on the Pac-10 academic team. The Portland, Ore. native is a kinesiology major with a 3.53 GPA. She was named to the second team as a junior and earned honorable mention honors as a sophomore.
