NORFOLK, Va. – Washington State University’s swimming team received the Team Scholar All-America Award from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) supported by Nike Swim earlier this month.
The Cougars boasted a 2014 spring semester GPA of 3.38, second in the Pac-12 to Arizona’s 3.41. The award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher in a semester.
In addition to the team award, five individuals received the CSCAA Honorable Mention Scholar All-America Award. The honor is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA for the semester or cumulate average, and achieved an NCAA “B” time standard, but did not compete in the their national championship meet.
The Cougar swimmers who met the standards are Emma Johansson (general medical sciences major), Ali Mand (digital technology and culture), Loree Olson (undeclared), Kelly Tannhauser (elementary education) and Presley Wetterstrom (undeclared).
