CAPTAINS' DIARY: WEEK FOUR

September 15, 2004

Ninety-odd degrees, blue skies, great food, sweet hotel rooms, good fun and TWO wins….what more can we ask for? The two victories weren't the prettiest we have had, but a win is a win. The games were a little rough at times, but we pulled through scoring some great goals. Matt reminds us each and every game that, "good teams find a way to win," and that we did. Every game is going to be a challenge in one way or another and this weekend's matches were a lot different than the games we have already had and that are to come. For the most part we dominated the games; it just took us some time to establish a rhythm. In the New Mexico game we had two great goals off of crosses and just about all three goals against Northern Colorado were one-vs.-one's with the keeper.

Not only did we play a couple soccer games, but quite a few parents made the trip to L.A., so a lot of the girls were able to enjoy the company of their families. We also had a couple of surprises on the trip…a surprise dessert at Chili's and we ended our Saturday morning run with a sudden stop at Jamba Juice….YUM!!! We also got to cheer on our volleyball team that was playing in a tournament at LMU as well. It was so fun to cheer them on in a different setting than at Bohler Gym.

On a different note we have a huge game to look forward to this week. We play Pepperdine on Friday. They are ranked and are doing well this season. We know that great teams bring out the best in us. We are so excited for the opportunity we have this weekend. If we take in what we work on in practice this week and learn from our previous games, we will be in a great place going in to the weekend. We have everything to gain this weekend, and once again we have the opportunity to protect "our house." Hopefully we will get a great group of fans like we had at the Tennessee game.
