Another weekend in the books and there aren't very many left in regular season. We traveled down to southern California this past weekend to take on USC and UCLA. We played USC on Friday and it was a beautiful day for soccer...wasn't too hot and it wasn't cold that is for sure. We were scoreless until a few minutes in to the second half. The ref called a foul on us in our 18-yard box...oops. We aren't sure if it was a good call or not, but we couldn't do anything about it. They capitalized on the penalty kick and then we were fighting to catch up the rest of the game. With everyone pressed forward in the last minutes of the game, they got a break away and put away a security goal. We felt like we underachieved on Friday. Even though we know that USC is a good team, we felt like we should have done better. We knew we had to go into Sunday ready for a battle.

After a good day rest on Saturday that included a trip to the beach for a little jog, stretch and a few games of very competitive soccer volleyball, we felt like we were ready to go for Sunday. Saturday also included a trip to the mall as well and some time well spent with parents if they were around. Knowing that UCLA is ranked No. 4 in the nation right now we knew that the game on Sunday was not going to be a walk in the park, but we knew we had nothing to lose. We had a great game plan going in to the game and we played great. We controlled their attack and we were the aggressors at times during the game. Being on the road, a tie is a positive result against a team like UCLA. We had our chances and they had theirs but neither team could capitalize. It was quite the battle! It was an aggressive game and one that tested both teams character. We showed great character and pride and played with determination and heart for the entire 110 minutes. Our trip was a lot better after that result even though we wanted two positive results on the weekend.

This weekend we take on the Oregon schools. We are very excited for the games. We are at home again, which we love, and it is our Senior Weekend. We know what we have to do this weekend and we are all committed to getting it done. So far practice has gone well this week and we are all ready for the weekend. GO COUGS!
