PULLMAN, Wash. - Erin Cook, the all-time leading scorer for Westview High School in Portland, Ore., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Washington State University women's soccer team this fall, head coach Dan Tobias announced Tuesday.
"We're very happy to get Erin as a late signee," Tobias said. "She is a very athletic girl who comes from a good club and high school program in Portland. Erin is a strong and athletic player we feel will contribute as both a midfielder and a defensive player."
Cook finished her prep career with 43 goals and earned four first-team All-Metro League selections, while leading her high school squad in scoring each season. As a senior, the 5-7 forward/midfielder, was a third-team all-state selection and her squad qualified for state playoffs for the second straight year. During her junior season, Cook captured all-state honorable mention honors.
In addition to her high school career, Cook played soccer for the Lake Oswego club team that won three consecutive state championships from 1997-99. Cook also earned four varsity letters in swimming at Westview High and qualified each year for the state championship meet.
Cook is the seventh high school recruit to sign with WSU soccer this spring.
