PULLMAN, Wash. - Soccer's Ariana Byrd and cross country's Jono Lafler earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 12-18.

Byrd (freshman, Phoenix, Ariz.) entered the Arizona match when starter Meghan Berlingo was injured and played 77 minutes and made three saves to earn her first-collegiate win in a 1-0 decision over the Wildcats. With the win, the Cougars improved to 10-3-1 heading into this weekend's matches with No. 1 Stanford and nationally-ranked California.

Jono Lafler (sophomore, Maple Valley, Wash.) finished 40th at the Indiana State University Pre-Nationals Cross Country Blue race in Terre Haute, Ind. Lafler covered the 8000m in a time of 24:36.5 and led the Cougar men's team to a seventh-place finish. The Cougar men's cross country team is now ranked 27th nationally and sixth in the very competitive NCAA West Region.
