SEATTLE - The current Washington State University women's soccer senior class entered Friday night's match at Washington having never lost to the Huskies. A pair of Cougars in that class made sure it stayed that way and WSU came away with a 1-1 draw in the Pacific-10 Conference opener for both schools.

Senior Elysse Van Leer scored off a rebound in the 84th minute after fellow senior Kiersten Dallstream's initial shot hit the crossbar. The goal gave the Cougars (7-3-1, 0-0-1 Pac-10) a six-match unbeaten streak against the Huskies (8-2-2, 0-0-1 Pac-10).

After neither team managed a shot on goal in the first half, Veronica Perez gave Washington a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute with a header in the box on the left side after receiving a through ball from Nikki Murray.

Junior goalkeeper Meghan Berlingo kept the Cougars' deficit at one when she denied Alex Webber in the 62nd minute and again in the 77th minute.

In the first overtime, senior Carly Dobratz picked up her second yellow card at 98:44 and WSU played the rest of the match a player down. In the waning seconds of the first extra session, Berlingo made a fine save at the near post on a shot off the foot of Perez.

Berlingo came up big one more time when she turned away Kate Deines with just over a minute remaining in the second overtime.

The Cougars conclude nonconference play with a noon match at Seattle, Sunday.
