Goalkeeper Jorgensen Earns More Academic Honors

PULLMAN, Wash. - Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen (North Bend, Wash.) was selected to the GTE Academic All-America Team for District VIII, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Jorgensen was one of 10 female student-athletes selected to the team and one of only three members with a 4.0 grade point average.

Jorgensen now advances to the GTE All-America national ballot. The national GTE Academic All-America Team will be announced on April 20, 2000.

As the starting goalkeeper for Washington State, Jorgensen started all 19 games for the Cougars and posted five shutouts and seven wins. She led the Pac-10 in saves with 126 in 1999.

The minimum requirements to be eligible for Academic All-America honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or an important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school.

District VIII includes schools in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
