PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State women’s soccer came away with plenty of positives despite a 3-0 loss to the Cougar men’s club team, April 12.
“It was the best soccer performance all spring,” Cougar Head Coach Steve Nugent said. “Everything we have talked about and been working on clicked. We dominated in possession and creating chances in the first half.”
The men score a late goal in the first half and added two in the second half for the final score.
“I was disappointed we gave up a late goal in the first half off a set piece, especially since we played so well,” Nugent said. “In the second half, we didn’t deal well with the pressure they put on us. They only ran by us one time and that was on the second goal.”
Nugent added, “Goals aside, I cannot be more excited about our energy and our spirit during the match. I am happy to be playing Portland next after a match like that.”
The Cougars will take on the Pilots, Saturday at noon in Beaverton, Ore.
