DAVID’S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER

A running back, corner and kick returner at Charter Oak High for coach Lou Farrar…earned three varsity letters in football, two in basketball (guard) and three in track (sprints)…as a SOPHOMORE named basketball team’s rookie of the year…JUNIOR year named to the All-Miramonte League first team on both offense and defense…first team All-CIF Div. IV on offense and to the All-CIF second team for the southern section…team was 10-2-1 and won the CIF Division IV title…also All-San Gabriel Valley honorable mention on offense…during SENIOR year rushed for 2,046 yards on 246 carries…scored 27 touchdowns…only fumbled three times in 14 games…had six receptions for 135 yards and one score…made 29 tackles and picked off six passes…scored 168 points, broke up 12 passes…all-league first team on both offense and defense…league player of the year…Tribune’s All-San Gabriel Valley first team on defense, as well as the LA Times first team…CIF Div. DAVID’S WSU CAREER

FRESHMAN (2000-01): V-letter… Games - 9…Started - 0…played in the final nine games of the season, usually on special teams but also as a backup in WSU’s secondary…had solo tackles at California and Oregon State…deflected one pass at USC.

SOPHOMORE (2001-02): V-letter…Games - 12…Starts - 12…earned the following weekly team awards: California/Big Hit…the following semester did not participate in spring drills while concentrating on his course work. ? Earned the starting spot at corner in fall camp ? Led WSU with 11 kickoff returns for 208 yards…became one of WSU’s KO return specialists in the fourth game, Arizona, and had his longest return, 34 yards, against the Wildcats ? Had three interceptions for 73 yards…picked off his first interception at Arizona…finished the season with two interceptions for 73 yards against Purdue in the Sun Bowl, returning one 45 yards for a touchdown ? Second on the team with 12 passes deflected, including three at Stanford and against Purdue ? Made six tackles against Oregon and Washington…against the Ducks, also deflected a pass, caused a fumble and recovered a fumble…had five tackles at Stanford and returned three kickoffs for 60 yards
