Coached by Mike Collins at Claremont High, where he was a teammate of Isaac Brown, who also signed with WSU...during SOPHOMORE year named to the All-Baseline League second team, rushing for 610 yards in just three games...scored seven touchdowns...as a JUNIOR rushed for 2,010 yards and scored 29 touchdowns while earning all-league, All-CIF and All-State first team honors...prep All-American for underclassmen...team's MVP and offensive player of the year...SENIOR year received five votes in the Long Beach P-T's Best in the West poll...picked by the Tacoma News Tribune to their Western 100 team (number 13 RB)...a prep All-America pick by the National Recruiting Center...named to Super Prep Magazine's All-America (number 36 RB) and All-Far West (33) teams...all-league first team and league MVP...All-CIF, Inland Valley and LA Times first team pick...Cal Hi Sports All-American first team...Prep Star Magazine All-American...racked up 2,616 yards rushing and rushed for 27 touchdowns for 9-3 Claremont...top prep rushing total in California...also caught 33 passes, including six for touchdowns...averaged 10.7 yards per carry...rushed for more than 5,000 yards in his career (including three varsity games as a sophomore)...set every school rushing and receiving record.

  • Freshman (1999-00): V-letter ... saw action in all 12 games and started the final 10 games...All-Pacific-10 Conference honorable mention pick...named by the Seattle PI to their Pac-10 all-freshman team...was number two nationally among freshman running backs and the leader among first-year freshmen through eight games, but low yardage games against Oregon (25) and Washington (20) dropped him from pack...first freshman running back to start for WSU since Derek Sparks in 1991...made a run at the Pac-10 freshman record of 1,069 by Stanford's Darrin Nelson...at ASU rushed for a season-high 136 yards, the seventh straight game he rushed for more yards than the previous game...had four straight games of 100+ yards rushing, Cal 104, Louisiana 110, ASU 136 and OSU 112...also had 96 yards and one score against USC and 97 yards at Hawaii in the season finale...against OSU caught a career-high four passes and ran for 112 yards...his 12 rushing touchdowns one short of WSU one-season record of 13 by Steve Broussard and Shaumbe Wright-Fair...caught 23 passes for 220 yards, the most by a Cougar back since Wright-Fair caught 31 in 1992...earned the following team awards: Arizona/Offensive Back; California/Offensive Back; Louisiana/Pac-10 Offense; ASU/Pac-10 Offense; ASU/Offensive Back...set the following WSU freshmen records: (1) 104 yards rushing against Cal, then increased it to 110 against ULL and 136 at ASU, (2) his 974 rushing yards topped Rueben Mayes' single season rushing record of 425, (3) 12 touchdowns one season, (4) 12 rushing touchdowns one season, (5) four rushing touchdowns one game (Louisiana), (6) most starts by a freshman running back - 10.
