PULLMAN, Wash. -- - Washington State University home football games not televised by ABC Sports or FOX Sports Net will return to a 2:00 p.m. kickoff next fall, WSU Interim Athletic Director Marcia Saneholtz announced today.
Last year the Cougars began their non-televised home football games at 1:00 p.m., a one-hour change from the traditional 2:00 p.m. start WSU had implemented in the 1980's.
"In the interest of accommodating our fans, we have moved the start time of home football games back to 2:00 p.m.," Saneholtz commented. "After years of starting at 2:00 p.m., we opted to try the 1:00 p.m. kickoff time last year to see if it worked better for our fans. Feedback, however, leads us to believe the 2:00 p.m. start is more popular with a majority of our fans."
"The extra hour gives fans ample time to get to Pullman and attend all the various pre-game functions, including our Food Fair in Hollingbery Fieldhouse, the Northwest Dodge Family Fun Zone, the Cougar Mania Corporate tent parties, the Gridiron Club, and many other pre-game activities," offered Saneholtz.
