Cougar Seniors To Participate In Second Bowl Season

PULLMAN, Wash. --- Washington State will be well represented in college football's second bowl season, as 10 Cougar seniors will participate in four major postseason all-star games in the month of January.

Bowl competition kicks off Saturday, January 10 with the East-West Shrine Game from San Francisco's Pac Bell Park. Billed as "Football's Finest Hour", three WSU players will participate. Cornerback Jason David and defensive linemen D.D. Acholonu and Jeremey Williams will represent the West squad under the tutelage of UNLV coach John Robinson. The game will be broadcast by ESPN at 11 a.m.

Las Vegas and Maui will be the site of a pair of January 17 games featuring seven Washington State seniors. Quarterback Matt Kegel and kicker Drew Dunning will showcase their skills at the Las Vegas All-American Classic, available on College Sports Television at 12:30 p.m. Holiday Bowl heroes Erik Coleman and Sammy Moore, along with teammates Isaac Brown, Josh Parrish, and Williams will play for the Aina squad in the Hula Bowl. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 5 p.m. Pacific.

The Gridiron Classic, which will be played at The Villages Polo Stadium in The Villages, Fla., will host a pair of Cougars. Kegel and strong safety Virgil Williams will suit up for the North squad under the guidance of Wisconsin's Barry Alvarez. The contest will be broadcast January 31 at 12:30 p.m. Pacific.
