PULLMAN, Wash. --- Junior running back Allen Thompson carried the ball 14 times for 72 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead all rushers in Washington State's 99-play scrimmage session at Martin Stadium.

Thompson, who is rebounding from injuries that have kept him out of action for much of the last two seasons, was the focal point of WSU's running game during the morning session. The National City, Calif., native scored on a two-yard dive and had a long of 26 yards on a sprint up the middle.

Redshirt freshman Kevin McCall also gave the ground game a boost Saturday, churning out 59 yards on 15 carries.

Walk-on freshman Mike Reilly led all quarterbacks for the second consecutive week with 112 yards and a touchdown. Reilly completed his first eight passes before having a potential second touchdown taken away on an interception by senior free safety Hamza Abdullah.

Sophomore Josh Swogger connected on 6 of 10 passes for 71 yards while redshirt freshman Alex Brink completed 5 of 10 for 66 yards.

Receivers Marty Martin and Tramaine Murray were dependable targets during the two-hour session, combining for 12 catches and 121 yards. Martin beat Abdullah on a jump ball for the scrimmage's second-longest pass play, a 39-yard strike from Swogger.

Sophomore Jeffrey Muai was the leading receiver, bringing in three passes for 86 yards.

Graham Siderius attempted a pair of 47-yard field goals, knocking the first directly down the middle and missing wide right on the second.

Junior Kyle Basler punted three times for a 44.6 yard average.

The Cougars will scrimmage again Saturday, April 10 at 9 a.m. in Martin Stadium. The annual Crimson & Gray Game is Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m.
