PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State football continued spring practice with a two-hour workout in full pads Tuesday afternoon on Rogers Field and in Martin Stadium.

The Cougars opened practice by working through their similar routine of individual position workouts, a 1-vs.-1 drill while the lines went against each other in the running game drill, 7-vs.-7 followed before working on kickoff coverage and wrapping up with 11-vs.-11 team.

Redshirt-senior quarterback Connor Halliday led the first series, opening the drive with a pair of first down completions to redshirt-senior wide receiver Kristoff Williams. A couple plays later, the defense picked up a “sack” as redshirt-junior BUCK linebacker Ivan McLennan came around the right side before getting to Halliday. Later in the series, Williams made one of the finer plays of the spring, diving back on a back-shoulder throw to make the grab for a first down, bringing yells and a celebration from the offense. Redshirt-senior running back Theron West followed with a big run up the middle and Halliday later added a touchdown throw to redshirt-freshman wideout Robert Lewis from 20-yards out. Halliday closed his day with a short touchdown pass to Williams in traffic.

Redshirt-freshman quarterback Tyler Bruggman led the second series and saw redshirt-freshman running back Jamal Morrow burst through the line for a first-down carry of 10-plus yards. Bruggman later hit Lewis for a first down before the defense received a nice play from redshirt-sophomore safety Beau Glover who left his feet to break up a pass. The defense picked up another big play as redshirt-junior defensive end Darryl Paulo broke through the line for a “sack.” Bruggman bounced back and ended his day with a short touchdown throw to redshirt-junior Daniel Lilienthal in the left corner of the end zone.

The Cougars resume spring practice Thursday at 3 p.m.
