STANFORD, Calif. - Washington State senior two-time All-American Kim Welch leads the 2005 Peg Barnard California Collegiate after firing a school record 5-under 66 at the par-71, 6,030-yard Stanford Golf Course, Saturday.

Welch leads the tournament by four strokes and is looking to repeat as individual champion, as she captured the 2004 Peg Barnard California Collegiate by one stroke with a two-round score of 142 (-2).

The Cougars (No. 24) are in second place as a team, seven strokes ahead of host school Stanford (No. 21) and Fresno State.

Junior Anastasia Kostina and senior Jay-Lee Longbottom also head into Sunday's final round in the top 25. Kostina is in 18th place after shooting 75 (+4), and Longbottom is tied for 19th after shooting 76 (+5). Kostina, only two strokes out of the top 10, is looking to record her ninth top 10 finish in only 10 tournaments this season. Longbottom is looking to record her sixth consecutive top 25 finish.

Senior Maria Kostina shot 78 (+7) and redshirt sophomore Heather O'Leary shot 80 to round out the scoring for the Cougars.
