What's Happening: The Cougar women's golf team (No. 25) heads to Pinehurst, N.C., to play in the 56-hole Pinehurst Challenge at the par-72, 6,009-yard Pinehurst #8...18 holes played each day, March 6-8...results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com after each day of competition.

The Field: Joining the Cougars in the 18-team field are Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Georgia State, James Madison, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi, Mississippi State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Oral Roberts, Oregon, Penn State, and Western Carolina.

Last Time Out: Anastasia Kostina finished second...Senior two-time All-American Kim Welch tied for fifth...duo led Cougars to second place team effort at Miccosukee Women's Championship, Feb. 21-22.

Anastasia Kostina Ranked: Junior Anastasia Kostina is currently ranked No. 17 on the GolfWeek/Sagarin Performance Index, and No. 13 in the Golfstat Cup Standings. Kostina has finished in the top eight in all six tournaments this season. She recorded her first career tournament victory at the Stanford Women's Intercollegiate. The three-round score of 5-under 205 at Stanford was the lowest three-round total in school history. Kostina was named GolfWeek Player of the Week, Oct. 23 for her performance at Stanford. Kostina also represented her home country of Russia at the Women's World Amateur Team Championships where she finished in eighth place.

Kim Welch Preseason Accolades: Senior Kim Welch was named a GolfWeek Preseason All-American for the second consecutive year in the magazine's Sept. 4, issue. Welch holds Washington State records for career tournament victories (9), the three best single season scoring averages in WSU history (73.9, 74.8, and 76.1), career top 10 finishes (25), career top 25 finishes (33), top 10 finishes in a season (9), and top 25 finishes in a season (11-twice).
