COUGAR COACHING STAFF: Head Coach Andrew Palileo is in his second season at WSU after a highly successful tenure at South Dakota State...Palileo has a 24-22 overall record at WSU, and a 13-year career record of 254-163...associate head coach Brian Lamppa and assistant coach TeAna Tramel complete the coaching staff...Kara Kiefer is the coordinator of operations.
AVCA TOP 25 POLL: Washington State dropped out of the Top 25 in the Oct. 12 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. COUGARS 38TH IN LATEST NCAA VOLLEYBALL RPI: In the NCAA Ratings Performance Index (RPI) for matches through Oct. 11, Washington State is ranked 38th...among Pac-10 schools listed in the top 40 are: Arizona 6th, Washington 8th, California 10th, Oregon 12th, Stanford 17th, USC 23rd, and Oregon State 28th...Texas has the No. 1 ranking...RPI comes from a combination of a team's winning percentage, its opponents' winning percentages, and it's opponents' opponents' winning percentages, with home and road contests figured into the formula.
WSU VOLLEYBALL YOUTH CLINIC: Head Coach Andrew Palileo and the WSU volleyball team will conduct the second youth volleyball clinic this year, Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9-10 a.m. in Bohler Gym for boys and girls, ages 5 to 11...the clinic is free with a donation of a can of food...all participants receive a ticket for the Cougar volleyball match that night against No. 16 UCLA...parents of participants can purchase tickets to these matches for $1 with a donation of an additional can of food...all food will be donated to the Pullman Community Action Center...email WSU Cougar assistant coach TeAna Tramel at firstname.lastname@example.org to register...questions, please call 509-335-0275.
ABC PINK CAMPAIGN & BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MATCH: For the eighth consecutive year, the Washington State University women's volleyball team is conducting the Attacking Breast Cancer (ABC) Pink Campaign Pledge Drive to raise fund for the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse, known as the Bosom Buddies...players are gathering pledges for WSU team kills landed during the home matches in the month of October...donors may pledge an amount per kill or a flat amount...the WSU volleyball team has raised $9,119.15 in the first seven years of the ABC Campaign with all the money going to the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse and its educational programs...Washington State versus Washington match, Friday, October 23, will be part of the Pacific-10 Conference Breast Cancer Awareness month of matches where the players, coaches, staff, spirit groups and even Butch, the WSU mascot, wear pink...first 100 fans to check-in at the contest booth Oct. 23 will receive a special T-shirt with the ABC Pink Campaign logo...Cougars are currently second in the Pac-10 and 10th in the NCAA in kills per set with an average of 14.35...to donate to the 2009 ABC Pink Campaign, contact WSU Volleyball Assistant Coach TeAna Tramel at email@example.com, or call 509-335-0275.
