SALINAS, Calif. -- The Washington State women's golf team finished 11th out of 16 teams Wednesday at the San Jose State Spartan Invitational, played at the par 72 Corral de Tierra Country Club.

New Mexico State claimed the team title with a +5, three-round total of 869 strokes. Pepperdine was second by only a stroke. Washington's Kelli Kamimura shot a third-round 66, low round for the tournament, and was the individual medalist.

WSU's Tasha Browner, a junior from Tarzana, Calif., finished tied for 21st after playing her best round of the tournament shooting 74. Teammate Jennifer Dodd (Portland, Ore.) dropped to a tie at 40th in spite of shooting her tournament low round, a 76.

The Cougar women golfers next play Mar. 12 - 13, at the UCLA-hosted Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic at Temecula, Calif.
