Stanford, Calif. --- Washington State Junior Tasha Browner and freshman Emily De'Ath each shot a 76 on Friday and are tied for 38th at the Stanford Women's Intercollegiate.

Arizona leads the tournament, as they raced to a 15-stroke lead over second place Stanford in the first round. New Mexico State is third, 18 strokes off the lead. The Cougars are tied with Oregon for 16th overall. The field features 14 of the top 18 women's golf teams in the nation.

Browner responded to a disappointing performance at last week's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational by firing a 36 on the front nine and finishing the day with a 76. Playing in only her second collegiate event, De'Ath did much of her damage on the back nine, carding a 37 to match Browner at 76.

Senior Jennifer Dodd will be looking to improve her first round 79 on Saturday. The Portland, Ore., native finished fourth at the Peg Barnard Collegiate last April on the same course that is being used for this event, the par-72 Stanford Golf Course.

Arizona's Lorena Ochoa is the individual leader. Ochoa fired a six-under-par 66 and holds a one-stroke advantage over teammate Natalie Gulbis.

Round two will start Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
