TARZANA, Calif. – Washington State Women’s Golf completed day one of the Bruin Wave Invitational tied for 11th (+44, 620). WSU is currently sitting one position higher than a ranked San Diego State team (44-golfstat). USC took the top spot on day one (-3, 573), followed by co-host UCLA in second (+2, 578) and co-host Pepperdine rounding out the top three (+5, 581).
Senior, Mallory Kent, led the way for WSU finishing in the top 25. Kent scored a 148 (+4) and ended the day tied for 17th, overall after carding seven birdies.
Junior, Kristen Rue, was the second highest finisher on day one for WSU. Rue is currently tied for 37th (+10, 154) after improving her score in the second round.
“The team had a solid day today,” said Head Coach Kelli Kamimura. “We are showing a lot of growth as a team and individually which is exciting for the program. Mallory was very consistent today and played very well. We are looking forward to the final round tomorrow and improving on our play today.”
The third and final round tee times of the Westbrook Invitational will begin on Tuesday Feb. 24th at 7:30 a.m. PST.
