LEWISTON, Idaho – Washington State football continued fall practice with a two-hour workout in helmets and shorts at Sacajawea Middle School Sunday afternoon.

The Cougars opened practice by working through their similar routine of individual position workouts, a 1-vs.-1 drill while the lines went against each other in the running game drill, 7-vs.-7, before working punt coverage and wrapping up with 11-vs.-11 team.

In the team session, the defense opened the period with a couple pass breakups and tackles-for-loss before the offense, led by quarterback Connor Halliday settled in. Halliday connected with wideout Dom Williams for first down on a screen pass and dropped a ball just over the defenders and into the hands of wide receiver Rickey Galvin for a 25-yard touchdown catch. A couple plays later, Halliday found wideout Robert Lewis behind the defense for a touchdown pass and he later fired a 20-yard touchdown strike to receiver Gabe Marks. The defense finished the series with a couple pass break ups and an interception from cornerback Tracy Clark in the end zone.

In the second series, led by quarterback Luke Falk, the Cougar offense opened the drive with a couple first down catches by running back Gerard Wicks and receiver Dom Williams. A couple plays later, Falk completed a quick pass to Lewis who raced up the left sideline for another big gain.  Later in the drive, near midfield, Wicks took a handoff and busted through the line for a first down run. Following a pass break up from cornerback Daquawn Brown, Wicks again exploded through the line for a big gain on the ground.  Falk caught fire late in the period and closed his day with touchdown passes to Galvin, receiver Calvin Green and wideout Kristoff Williams.

The Cougars continue fall camp Monday at 2:30 p.m. with their first practice in helmets and shoulder pads.
