Three Cougars Receive Preseason All-Pac-12 Honors

PULLMAN, Wash. – Three Washington State football players received Preseason All-Pac-12 honors from Phil Steele Magazine.

Redshirt-junior defensive lineman Xavier Cooper, junior wide receiver Gabe Marks and redshirt-junior linebacker Darryl Monroe were each named the preseason All-Pac-12 Third Team by the college football magazine.

Cooper started all 13 games for the Cougars last season, making 50 tackles including team-highs of 13.5 tackles-for-loss and five sacks. The Tacoma, Wash. native also recovered two fumbles, forced two and scored one touchdown on a fumble return.

Marks appeared in all 13 games and made a team-best 74 receptions, second-most in school history. The Los Angeles native tallied 807 receiving yards and tied for the team lead with seven touchdown catches.

Monroe returns after starting every game the past two seasons at MIKE linebacker. The Orlando, Fla. native tallied 94 tackles last year including eight tackles-for-loss, two sacks and also forced two fumbles.

The Cougars open their 2014 season Thursday, Aug. 28 against Rutgers in The Seattle Game at CenturyLink Field.
