WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Four men and four women from Washington State University were named to the 2013 Pac-12 Conference Cross Country All-Academic teams, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.
Ruby Roberts (senior, Kingston, Wash.) was a women’s first team selection. Roberts is a fine arts major with a 3.97 GPA. Cougar women named to the honorable mention team are Emily Dwyer (sophomore, Sammamish, Wash.) an undeclared major with a 3.85 GPA, Abby Knight (sophomore, Vancouver, Wash.) an undeclared major with a 3.24 GPA, and Courtney Zalud (redshirt senior, Colbert, Wash.) an accounting major with a 3.25 GPA.
WSU's Forrest Shaffer (sophomore, Petaluma, Calif.) was named to the men's second team. He is an undeclared major with a 3.55 GPA. Three Cougars were named to the honorable mention team including Lee George (junior, Ferndale, Wash.) a history major with a 3.05 GPA, Andrew Gonzales (senior, Kennewick, Wash.) a psychology major with a 3.02 GPA, and Todd Wakefield (junior, Kearns, Australia) a movement studies major with a 3.29 GPA.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 overall grade-point average or higher, and be either a starter or significant contributor. A total of 86 women and 44 men were selected for the 2013 Pac-12 Cross Country All-Academic teams.
