The Washington State soccer team (9-2-3, 2-2-1 Pac-12) plays its third-consecutive Pac-12 match at home when it hosts Oregon State (3-9-2, 1-3-1 Pac-12), Friday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m…live stats will be available online at www.wsucougars.com...Cougars will wear pink jerseys in honor of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH KEIDANE McALPINE

Cougar Head Coach Keidane McAlpine is in his second year at Washington State, and his seventh year overall as a head coach...McAlpine is 21-8-5 in Pullman and 61-56-16 overall…led Cougars to NCAA First Round in 2012, Washington State’s fourth postseason appearance in the last-five years.

WASHINGTON STATE RECEIVING VOTES

Cougars are receiving votes in NSCAA poll (eighth-straight week)…Washington State received votes in the Soccer Times poll, Oct. 7 (last poll released)…fourth-straight week and sixth overall Cougars received votes.

NATIONAL AND CONFERENCE RANKINGS

Washington State is tied for fourth nationally in shutout percentage (0.71) and tied for 24th in goals against average (0.61)…Cougars lead the Pac-12 with 10 shutouts, one shy of the school record, and are tied with UCLA for first at 5.79 points per game…redshirt junior goalkeeper Gurveen Clair’s nine shutouts are first in the conference…sophomore Kourtney Guetlein’s seven assists and 0.50 assists per game are tied for the lead in the Pac-12…senior Micaela Castain is ranked nationally with 11 goals (T-15th), 27 points (T-16th), 1.93 points per game (T-17th), and 0.79 goals per game (T-20th)…leads Pac-12 in all-four of categories…tied for first in the conference with four game-winning goals.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK

Washington State senior forward Micaela Castain is second all-time at Washington State with 14 game-winning goals…third in Cougar history with 33 goals and fourth with 74 points, 1.10 points per game and 0.49 goals per game…Castain’s goals have tied a match or given the Cougars the lead 20 times, tied for second in the Cougar record book…became the fourth student-athlete in Washington State history to score a goal in four-straight matches when she found the back of the net against UC Irvine, Sept. 22…redshirt junior goalkeeper Gurveen Clair is the current school record holder in goals against average at 0.78…tied for second in Cougar history with 20 shutouts and 29 wins…both marks are one away from school records…sophomore Kourtney Guetlein is tied for second on the Cougar single-season list with seven assists, one short of the Washington State record…her 0.35 assists per game during her career is currently the Cougar standard.

SERIES AGAINST OREGON STATE

Washington State leads 11-8-3, including 5-4-2 in Pullman…last year, Nicole Setterlund provided the game-winner in the 70th minute of a 2-1 victory.

ABOUT THE BEAVERS

Oregon State is 3-9-2, 1-3-1 Pac-12…Beavers are 0-6-0 on the road, including 0-2-0 in conference action…share three-common opponents with the Cougars so far, losing at home to UC Irvine and on the road against Colorado and Utah…Cougars are 2-1-0 against those teams…Jenna Richardson leads team with three goals and is tied for team-high honors with six points.

LAST WEEK

Washington State split a pair of matches at home…Cougars shut out Colorado (3-0), Friday behind two goals from sophomore Cara Wegner and a pair of assists by sophomore Kourtney Guetlein…rallied from a 3-0 halftime deficit against Utah, Sunday to force overtime before falling 4-3 to the Utes in the second-extra session on a goal at 103:53.
