THIS WEEK

After six-straight road matches, the Washington State soccer team (8-1-3, 1-1-1 Pac-12) returns to Pullman for three-consecutive home dates…stretch begins, Friday at 2 p.m. against Colorado (10-2-0, 2-1-0 Pac-12)…Cougars also host Utah (6-1-5, 2-0-1 Pac-12, plays at Washington, Friday), Sunday at 11 a.m…match against the Utes will be televised by Pac-12 Networks with Jason Knapp and Kyndra de St. Aubin describing the action…live stats for both matches will be available on www.wsucougars.com.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH KEIDANE McALPINE

Cougar Head Coach Keidane McAlpine is in his second year at Washington State, and his seventh year overall as a head coach...McAlpine is 20-7-5 in Pullman and 60-55-16 overall…led Cougars to NCAA First Round in 2012, Washington State’s fourth postseason appearance in the last-five years.

WASHINGTON STATE RECEIVING VOTES

Cougars are receiving votes in NSCAA poll (seventh-straight week) and in Soccer Times poll (fourth-straight week, sixth overall).

NATIONAL RANKINGS

Washington State is fifth in goals against average at 0.40...redshirt junior goalkeeper Gurveen Clair is eighth with a 0.41 GAA...senior forward Micaela Castain is tied for 19th with 10 goals, tied for 21st at 2.00 points per game and tied for 23rd with 24 points.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK

Washington State senior forward Micaela Castain is third all-time at Washington State with 32 goals and fourth in Cougar history with 71 points…her 14 game-winning goals are second on Washington State’s career list…Castain’s goals have tied a match or given the Cougars the lead 20 times, tied for second in the Cougar record book…became the fourth student-athlete in Washington State history to score a goal in four-straight matches when she found the back of the net against UC Irvine, Sept. 22…redshirt junior goalkeeper Gurveen Clair is the current school record holder in goals against average at 0.73…ranks third in Cougar history with 19 shutouts and 28 wins…both marks are two shy of the school records.

OWSLEY CONTRIBUTIONS

Junior Mesa Owsley notched the game-winning goal and an added an assist in the Cougars’ 2-0 win at USC, Oct. 6…first three-point match of her career…has been involved in each of the last-three Washington State goals this season, first-career goal at UC Irvine, Sept. 22 and the two goals against the Trojans.

SERIES AGAINST BUFFALOES/UTES

Washington State leads Colorado 2-1, including 4-0 win in Pullman during 2011 season…Utah leads 5-3-1, but Cougars hold 2-1-1 advantage at home, including 2-0 victory in 2011.

ABOUT THE BUFFALOES/UTES

Colorado has played all-12 matches at home in Boulder or in Denver…Anne Stuller and Brie Hooks lead the team with seven goals…receiving votes in NSCAA and Soccer Times polls…Utah is making its first Pac-12 road trip this season…Katie Taylor leads the team with four goals, three assists and 11 points.

LAST WEEK

Washington State split a pair of matches in Los Angeles…Cougars gave up their first goals in the second half this season and lost 2-0 at No. 3 UCLA, Friday...loss snapped school-record 14-match unbeaten streak dating back to last season…bounced back to beat USC 2-0, Sunday…junior Mesa Owsley provided a goal (game-winner) and an assist for the first-three point match of her career…assist came on sophomore Kourtney Guetlein’s first goal of 2013.
