THIS WEEK

Washington State soccer (7-0-3, 0-0-1 Pac-12)) plays a pair of conference matches in Los Angeles…Cougars square off with UCLA (9-1-0, 1-0-0 Pac-12), Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. and face USC (5-4-1, 0-1-0 Pac-12), Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m…matches will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks…Christian Miles and Tammy Blackburn call the action against the Bruins while Jason  Knapp and Tracey Bailey are the commentators against the Trojans…live stats will be available at www.uclabruins.com and www.usctrojans.com, respectively.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH KEIDANE McALPINE

Cougar Head Coach Keidane McAlpine is in his second year at Washington State, and his seventh year overall as a head coach...McAlpine is 19-6-5 in Pullman and 59-54-16 overall…led Cougars to NCAA First Round in 2012, Washington State’s fourth postseason appearance in the last-five years.

WASHINGTON STATE RECEIVING VOTES

Cougars are receiving votes in NSCAA poll (sixth-straight week) and in Soccer Times poll (third-straight week, fifth overall).

AMONG THE UNBEATENS

Washington State is undefeated through 10 matches (7-0-3) for the first time in school history…Cougars are unbeaten in a school-record 14 matches, dating back to last season, the longest-active streak in the nation…Washington State is one of six Division I schools undefeated entering the week.

NATIONAL RANKINGS

Washington State is second in goals against average at 0.28...redshirt junior Gurveen Clair is fourth with a 0.30 GAA...senior forward Micaela Castain is fifth with 2.40 points per game, tied for 10th with 24 points and her 10 goals are tied for 12th.

CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOK

Washington State senior forward Micaela Castain is third all-time at Washington State with 32 goals and fourth in Cougar history with 71 points…her 14 game-winning goals are second on Washington State’s career list…Castain’s goals have tied a match or given the Cougars the lead 20 times, tied for second in the Cougar record book…became the fourth student-athlete in Washington State history to score a goal in four-straight matches when she found the back of the net against UC Irvine, Sept. 22…redshirt junior Gurveen Clair is the current school record holder in goals against average at 0.72…ranks third in Cougar history with 18 shutouts and 27 wins.

SERIES AGAINST UCLA/USC

Bruins lead 14-2-4, including 8-1-2 at home…teams tied last-two matches 0-0 (Pullman, 2011 and Los Angeles, 2012)…Trojans lead 9-6-3, including 7-1-2 in Los Angeles…Cougars have won two straight and are 3-1-3 in the last-seven meetings, including 1-1-2 on the road.

LAST WEEK

Washington State opened Pac-12 play with a 0-0 draw at Oregon…Cougars held a 17-7 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks…Cougars missed a chance to win in the first overtime when senior Micaela Castain’s header hit the crossbar and junior Nicole Setterlund’s shot on the rebound beat the goalkeeper, but struck freshman teammate Kailiana Johnson, who was on the ground at the goalline.
