SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Steffie Pavey led the limited Washington State women’s cross country team Saturday at the Erik Anderson Invitational at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane Valley.
The competition, hosted by Community Colleges of Spokane, was divided into DI, DII, DIII, NAIA and junior college, and unattached (non-award) categories.
Pavey was the top Cougar woman to cross the finish line finishing 20th in overall standings. She ran the 6000m course in a time of 23-minutes, 21.67 seconds. Amanda Henderson was the second WSU finisher with a 28th place finish in a time of 24:17.31. Following were Ashlie Standow 31st (24:34.84), Alexys Garcia 32nd (24:44.49), and Hailey Gibson 38th (25:45.20).
The women’s overall winner was Dani Walker from Lipscomb with a 6000m time of 21:39.83.
The Cougar men did not compete at the Erik Anderson Invitational.
Washington State’s men’s team will compete Oct. 4 at the Notre Dame Invitational and the Cougar women will race at the NCAA Preview in Sacramento Calif.
