PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University men's golf team captured the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate title to conclude play at Washington State University’s Palouse Ridge Golf Course.

The Cougars finished the tournament four strokes under par (836), marking the second-best team score in tournament history. WSU finished ahead of second-place Cal State Fullerton, carding an 837 (-3) and third-place Sacramento State with an 842 (+2).

“This is a great start to our season,” Cougar Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. “Everybody on the team contributed a key score this week. That is a good sign for us. Hopefully, this will give us some momentum we can carry through the fall.”

Washington State senior Blake Snyder shot a 68 (-2) in the third round to notch his first-career victory with a 203 (-7) over three rounds. Snyder shared the tournament title with San Jose State’s Cody Blick. WSU junior Michael Anderson entered the day one shot off the lead and shot 3-over par (73) to finish tied for 10th-place. Sophomore Ryan Books shot 215 (+5) to tie for 25th and earn his first career top-25 finish.

This marks the second-straight year the Cougars have won the tournament, and the fourth time in the tournament’s five-year history.

Senior Jarrett Foote, competing as an individual, finished tied for eighth place, shooting 2-under par (208) through 54 holes.

The Cougars finished the first day of the tournament eight strokes under par at 552 and seven strokes ahead of second-place Cal State Fullerton.

The team will travel to Bremerton, Wash., to compete in the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational, Sept. 17-18.
