WSU VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS
The Washington State University volleyball team (7-0), winner of the Cougar Challenge tournament last weekend, travels to the Sam Houston Invitational at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum, Sept. 13 & 14 in Huntsville, Texas...WSU takes on Jackson State (1-6 pending 9/10 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette), Lamar (1-7 pending 9/10 vs. Rice), and host Sam Houston State (2-5)...all Cougar volleyball road matches are broadcast on wsucougars.com free of charge this season.

HOLT SELECTED PAC-12 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Washington State’s Kyra Holt was named the Pac-12 Volleyball Freshman of the Week for her play during the week of Sept. 2-8...the middle blocker from Hercules, Calif., led WSU to the Cougar Challenge title with 51 kills (3.92 kps), hit .294, had five service aces, six blocks and 39 digs (3.00 dps)...Holt’s 4.00 kps leads the team and is ranked fifth-best in the Pac-12 and her 0.40 service aces per set (10 total) leads the team and is ranked tied for ninth in the Pac-12...she is the 22nd WSU volleyball player selected for a conference player of the week honor and the first freshman to receive the Freshman of the Week nod.

COUGAR COACHING STAFF
Jen Stinson Greeny is in her third season as WSU’s head coach (32-39 at WSU, 3 years; 144-63 in career, 7 years) - complete Greeny bio on page 4...assistant coaches Burdette Greeny (3rd year) and Shannon Hunt (first year)...volunteer coach Kali Gesser...all four coaches are former WSU student-athletes...Katie Hinrichs is coordinator of operations (3rd year).

NOTEABLE:
* WSU volleyball has won its season-opening match 25 of the past 27 years.
* Cougars hit .909 in the fifth set in the 3-2 win over Seton Hall (10-0-11)
* Kyra Holt named Army Black Knight Invite MVP
* Camryn Irwin and Ver’Leea Hardaway named to Army all-tournament team
* Ver’Leea Hardaway named Cougar Challenge MVP
* Jaicee Harris named to Cougar Challenge all-tournament team
* Cougars hit .773 in second set 25-11 win over Eastern Washington (17-0-22)
* Setter Camryn Irwin moved to 5th place in career assists with 2,605
