KARLOVY VARY, Czech Republic – The Washington State University women’s basketball team defeated Karlovy Vary, 85-60, at Sportovní Hala in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, Wednesday. The game was WSU’s third of a four-game tour through Austria, Slovakia, and Czech Republic.
The Cougars opened the game with a 15-2 run before Karlovy Vary closed the gap to end the first half down 36-31. WSU came back in the third quarter and opened a 20-point lead that it maintained through the fourth quarter to win, 85-60.
The Cougars were led by sophomore Mariah Cooks who recorded 17 points. Four Cougar players scored in double figures as Taylor Edmondson (14), Whitney Tinjum (13), and Brandi Thomas (11) all reached the double-digit mark. Karlovy Vary was lead by Dana Kušlitová with 16 points.
WSU is now 3-0 on the trip and will face its final European opponent, VSE Praha, Thursday, Aug. 15, before returning to Pullman, Aug. 16.
