COUGARS HOST HUSKIES AND PILOTS IN PASCO
The Washington State (21-27, 8-16 Pac-12) baseball team will host Washington and Portland for the Cougar Diamond Classic in Pasco, Wash., at Gesa Stadium, May 17-20...Cougars and Huskies (19-31, 10-14) will tangle Friday, May 17 (6 p.m.), Saturday, May 18 (2 p.m.) and Sunday, May 19 (1 p.m.) in a Pac-12 series...Washington State and Portland (18-32, plays Pepperdine, May 17-19) will play at noon, Monday, May 20...Cougars are 259-242 under Donnie Marbut, who is in his ninth season as head coach of the Washington State program and 10th overall in Pullman...Marbut is assisted by Gregg Swenson, Pat Waer, Michael Naughton and Scott Parrish.

Washington State leads 234-185...home team has won the Pac-12 series in each of the last-five seasons...teams met in inaugural Cougar Diamond Classic (2011) with Washington claiming a 4-2 victory in Pasco...last season, Huskies took two of three in Seattle...teams have played in Pasco, Pullman, Richland, Seattle, Spokane and Yakima as well as Lewiston, Idaho during the rivalry that dates to 1901.

SERIES WITH THE PILOTS
Washington State leads 72-38-1...series dates back to 1947...Washington State won the first meeting 14-9, April 25 of that season in Portland...Pilots won first meetings this season, 7-5 in Portland, May 6...teams have played twice in each of the last-four seasons with the Cougars winning six of eight...last season, Washington State won 10-0 in Pullman and 4-2 in Pasco...Cougars are 10-6 against the Pilots under Donnie Marbut.

WASHINGTON STATE NEED TO GET HOT
Washington State needs to win its last-seven games to finish above .500 for the first time since making back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances in 2009 and 2010.

COMEBACK COUGARS
Under head coach Donnie Marbut, currently in his ninth season as the Washington State skipper, the Cougars have posted 122 come-from-behind victories, including 10 in 2013.

MONDA ON OLERUD WATCH LIST
Washington State junior Jason Monda was one of 24 student-athletes named to John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List...Monda is batting .293 with five doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI as a first baseman/outfielder/designated hitter in 47 starts...on the mound, he is 2-2 with one save and a 1.16 ERA in 15 appearances, including three starts.

FRIDAY NIGHT JOE
Sophomore Joe Pistorese has posted a 5-3 record and 2.71 ERA in 13 starts this season, including two complete games...fanned 56 in 86 1/3 innings...next start comes Friday night against Washington.
