VALENCIA, Calif. - The Washington State women's golf team shot 23-over par and is tied for 10th after the opening round of the Pac-12 Championships. There are two rounds left in the tournament.
Mallory Kent led the Cougars in the first of three rounds. Kent carded a 3-over 75 and is tied for 25th place going into Tuesday's second round. Kristen Rue was close behind with a 77 in the first round (5-over, tied for 38th).
The Cougars are tied for tenth with Colorado (+23). Complete results from round one are available at golfstat.com.
After Monday, No. 1 Southern California sat atop the leaderboard. The tournament leaders shot a team score of 8-under in the first round, and built a ten-stroke lead over second place UCLA (2-over). Sophia Popov of Southern California leads the field in the individual title race. Popov was 6-under in round one.
The second round of the tournament will begin Tuesday at the Valencia Country Club with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com, and results will be posted after the round at wsucougars.com.
