TRUFANT'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER

Coached by Don Clegg at Wilson High, earning three varsity letters...earned two letters each in basketball and track...team captain for all three sports senior year...as a JUNIOR named top offensive player on team, while in basketball was Mr. Defense...triple jumped 47-6 to capture ninth at the State track meet...SENIOR year earned All-State first team honors by Associated Press, the Seattle PI and Washington Prep Report...a Seattle Times Red Chip honoree and named to the Western 100 (number eight DB) by the Tacoma News Tribune, as well as their Northwest Nugget second team...a Super Prep Magazine All-Northwest (17) pick...named Washington’s AAAA player of the year by TNT as well as to the paper’s all-league, all-area and All-State teams...team won State 4-A title with a win in the Kingdome...scored 30 touchdowns and rushed for over 1,800 yards...on defense had 48 tackles and eight interceptions.

FRESHMAN (1999-00): V-letter... Games - 11…Starts - 7...earned the following team awards: OSU/Defensive Back; OSU/Cougar Tackler; Oregon/Defensive Back. ? After missing the season opener, played in each of the last 11 games and started seven contests ? Named by the Seattle PI to their Pac-10 all-freshman team ? First start came in WSU's win over California...did not start the next week against Louisiana, then started the final six games of the year ? Finished with 37 tackles, including a season high seven at ASU and at Oregon…first interception against Louisiana ? Led the team with 13 pass deflections, including five against Hawaii and two each against Cal, OSU and Oregon ? Best game of the season came at Hawaii when he made three tackles, deflected five passes and picked off his second interception of the season, returning it 45 yards

SOPHOMORE (2000-01): V-letter… Games - 11…Starts - 11…earned the following 10 weekly team awards: Stanford/Defensive Back, Utah/Pac-10 Defense/Most Disciplined Defense, Idaho/Cougar Tackler/Most Disciplined Defense, BSU/Cougar Tackler, OSU/Defensive Back/Defensive Pursuit Player, Oregon/Cougar Claw, USC/Big Hit. ? All-Pac-10 honorable mention by the league’s coaches ? Finished the season with 53 tackles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and a team-leading 16 passes defensed ? Picked off passes against Utah and Idaho in back to back games and then against Arizona State ? Knocked down four passes against both Oregon State and USC ? Had seven tackles in three games, Stanford, Arizona State and USC…credited with seven passes defensed in last two games

All-Pac-10 honorable mention pick ? Had a string of 20 straight starts snapped with he suffered a broken bone in his right hand before the Arizona game…returned to start the final three games, including the Sun Bowl ? Had interceptions against Boise State and Cal before being sidelined ? Against UCLA responded with a remarkable game in his first action after missing five games…despite wearing a soft cast on his injured hand, picked off one Bruin pass and returned it 26 yards and made four tackles, including two TFL…also forced one UCLA fumble ? Had six tackles against California…in WSU’s win over Purdue in the Sun Bowl made six tackles and deflected three tackles ? Selected to Street & Smith’s honorable mention AA team prior to start of season

CAREER: Has eight interceptions, ranking tied for tenth on the WSU career list…total ranks eighth nationally among active players going into the 2002 season.
