Coached by John Capraro at Pomona High...also lettered twice in basketball and three times in team captain as a junior and football team captain as a a SOPHOMORE team's defensive MVP and Rookie of the Year...all-league honorable mention on defense...during JUNIOR year named team's defensive specialist of the year...All-Miramonte League defensive first team and second team All-Inland Valley team, also on defense...SENIOR year ranked No. 9 safety on the West Coast by Greg Biggins of PacWest Football...named to second team All-CIF...hauled in a key, 65-yard touchdown pass in Pomona's 35-21 win over University in the second round of the CIF Division IX playoffs...CIF Div. 9 defensive player of the year...named to the All-CIF All-Division second team...first team All-Valle Vista League as both a defensive back and wide Red Devil of the Year...Daily Bulletin first team defensive back and Inland Valley first team, also on defense.

FRESHMAN (2003-04): Redshirt season. RS-FRESHMAN (2004-05): V-letter...Games - 11...Starts - 0...primarily a special teams player...earned the following weekly team awards: Assassin - Oregon, Iron Man - Stanford/UCLA. Special Teams: Punt Gunner, Kickoffs, KO Returns:
• Received Team's Assassin Award;
• At New Mexico had one tackle, recovered a late-game fumble and intercepted a Lobo pass;
• Recovered an Arizona fumble forced by Pat Bennett with 1:19 to play and WSU turned the possession into the winning TD with 53 seconds to play, beating the Wildcats 20-19;
• The next week against Oregon made a career-high four tackles...also four tackles at Oregon State and three in win at UCLA.
RS-SOPHOMORE (2005-06): V-Letter...Games - 10...Starts - 9... Special Teams: Punt, Punt Return, Onside KO, Hands:
• Season high nine tackles at Oregon State, California and USC...also picked off two passes at California;
• Averaged nearly seven tackles a game over the last eight games of the season;
• Missed the first game with a sprained ankle and saw limited action at Nevada...returned to the starting lineup against Grambling State;

RS-JUNIOR (2006-07): V-letter...Games 12...Starts 12...received the following single-game team awards: WSU's Pac-10 nomination on defense for play against California...Special Teams: Punt, Kickoff:
• His three interceptions tied for second on the team...49 return yards also second;
• Tied for fifth in tackles, making 66 stops;
• Ranked tied for 28th in tackles among Pac-10 defenders at 5.5 per game;
• Caused a Stanford fumble near the Cougar goal line;
• Picked off first pass of the season against California and also recorded a career-best 10 tackles, including one TFL;
• Bettered his best game with 11 tackles at ASU and picked off his second pass of the year, returning it 35 yards;
• Capped the year with his third interception of the season, returning the pick 14 yards against Washington;
• Had 44 tackles in the last six games.
