Graduate Assistant - Defense

Byron Hout is in his first season as the Cougars defensive graduate assistant after completing his four-year playing career at Boise State University.

Hout, a native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was a two-time All-WAC selection during his four seasons at Boise State. The former linebacker/defensive end, who played for WSU linebackers coach Jeff Choate at Boise State, appeared in 46 games and made 157 tackles including seven sacks and 20.5 tackles-for-loss for the Broncos. As a senior, Hout led BSU with 69 total tackles highlighted by a career-high 18 tackles in the win over Air Force.

Hout was a three-time first-team All-State selection for head coach Van Troxel at Lake City High School, earning Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.

Hout earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Boise State in 2012.
