Cougars Return Home To Battle Montana Grizzlies

Women's soccer looks to hault three-game skid.

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's soccer squad (2-5-2) will look to put the breaks on its three game losing streak as the Cougars return home to battle the Montana Grizzlies at the Cougar Soccer Field Sunday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.

Montana (6-3-0) will face Oregon State (4-4-0) Friday 1 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer Field before matching up with WSU Sunday. The Grizzlies lost to Utah 4-2 last Thursday before defeating 14th ranked Brigham Young 4-1 Saturday. Montana is second in the Big Sky standings behind Weber State.

Last season in Missoula, WSU and the Grizzlies battled through a physical match in which forward Jodi Campbell was ejected for punching Kim Schelpf (Ocean, N.J.). Montana went on to defeat the Cougars 4-0 with only 10 players on the field. The Cougars' all-time series record against Montana is 1-2-1.

WSU has lost three straight, its last two defeats coming on the road last weekend. No. 20 George Mason shutout the Cougars 2-0 Saturday. The match was the first time WSU has been held scoreless this season. Monday the Cougars lost to George Washington 2-1. Freshman Natalie Kehl (Colbert, Wash.) scored her first WSU career goal to tie the game at one midway through the second half, only to have the Colonials score the game winner nine minutes later.
