BALL GROUND, Ga. - After two rounds of play the semifinals are set at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Georgia.

Third-seeded Georgia Tech beat Washington State in the first-round, five holes to two, after they won two matches, lost two matches and halved the other. Senior Nick Ellis and junior Branden Dalton both won 1-up.

"We played really well this morning and tied the No.4 team in the nation, Georgia Tech," said Head Coach Walt Williams. "Unfortunately, they advanced on a tie breaker."

In the second-round of the day, Washington State played sixth-seeded Iowa. Iowa came out on top ending the match three holes to two. "Trent and Kent played well this afternoon and both won comfortably over higher ranked players," Williams said. "However, we came out on the short end against 11th ranked Iowa."

In the third-round, the Cougars will take on the Texas Longhorns.

Matches will begin Monday with an 8:30a.m. shotgun start.
