PULLMAN, Wash.- Fans are encouraged to wear white Saturday, Feb., 2 at Beasley Coliseum as Washington State University men's basketball hosts No. 8 Arizona at 7 p.m. in an attempt to `whiteout' Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars will also do their part to raise awareness in the fight against cancer as the game is part of "Spokane Coaches vs. Cancer Week".
The first 6,000 fans in the door at Saturday's game will receive a FREE whiteout t-shirt, as the shirts will be located at the main, student, east and north entrances. The shirts are provided by WSU Athletics, Rockwood and ASWSU and will be distributed by members of ASWSU.
Since 2002, Spokane Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $6 million that has benefited the American Cancer Society and other local cancer-fighting initiatives such as Camp Goodtimes-East, the Ronald McDonald House, the Hospice House, and much more.
The eight-day "Spokane Coaches vs. Cancer Week" began Friday, Jan. 25 with "CvC Night with the Chiefs" as the Spokane Chiefs hosted Portland at Spokane Arena. The next day, Jan. 26, was "CvC Day" in Spokane as Gonzaga hosted San Francisco. Wednesday, Jan. 30 will be ALL local Papa Murphy's "Day for CvC," in which all Spokane and Coeur d'Alene Papa Murphy's will donate a portion of proceeds to the Spokane Coaches vs. Cancer. The Cougars end the `week' hosting Arizona Saturday for "CvC Day" in Pullman. Also, all week donations will be taken at all Spokane and Coeur d'Alene Wendy's and Rosauer's.
The Spokane Coaches vs. Cancer offers a variety of ways to donate to its cause, including text to donate and the sale of `BELiEVE' t-shirts, as part of its `BELiEVE' campaign.
