PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's basketball team fell to the Montana State Bobcats, 70-64, Thursday night at Beasley Coliseum.
Freshman Nakejia Kelly led three Cougars (1-5) who scored in double figures with 11 points. It was Kelly's fourth game scoring 10 points or more this season.
WSU senior Kate Benz added 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds to increase her career rebound total to 735. Benz, who entered Thursday's game tied with Jenni Ruff (1993-96) for third position on the school's all-time rebounding list, moved into sole possession of third place and now eyes Janet Kusler (1976-79), who is second on the all-time list with 853 rebounds.
Ebonee Coates scored 10 points for the Cougars to complete the double-digit scoring trio.
Montana State (3-3) was led Alyssa Mercer and Nubia Garcia, who combined for 31 points. Mercer shot 7-for-14 from the field and had three free-throws to finish with 17 points. Garcia added 14 points for the Bobcats.
The Cougars return to action Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., against Eastern Washington at Beasley Coliseum.
