COUGARS HOME TO START PAC-10 WITH STANFORD & CAL: The Washington State volleyball team, 12-2 on the season, starts the Pacific-10 Conference competition this week in Bohler Gym...the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal, 9-1, come to Pullman for a match Thursday, Sept. 21, followed by the No. 8 California Golden Bears (11-0) visit, Friday, Sept. 22...both matches begin at 7 p.m...this is the best non-conference win-loss record for the Cougs in Head Coach Brian Heffernan's three years with the program.
SIXTH ANNUAL WOMEN'S CLOTHING DRIVE THIS WEEK: For the sixth consecutive year, the Cougar volleyball team is sponsoring a clothing drive for disadvantaged women in the area...fans are asked to bring their Gently Used Clothing and a Pair of New Hose for donation to the Pullman Community Action Center...clothing will be donated for use by area low-income women entering or re-entering the work force and needing professional clothing...larger sizes are especially needed...donors are asked to bring their donations to the WSU volleyball office in Bohler Addition, room 230, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sept. 21 and Sept. 22...donors will receive free admission to the Cougar volleyball match versus California at Bohler Gym Friday, Sept. 22...for more information, call the WSU Volleyball Office at 509-335-0277.
LAST WEEK: Cougars split with cross-border rivals Idaho...Sept. 13, WSU defeated Idaho 3-1 (30-32, 30-20, 30-25, 30-25)...WSU stat leaders were: Brittany Johnson (16 kills), Kelly Rosin (14 kills, 14 digs), Kelly Hyder (19 digs), Corina Beyer (44 assists), Cassie Robbins (6 blocks), Stephanie Weishaar (2 aces)...two days later, Idaho took revenge with a 3-0 win at Moscow (30-23, 30-20, 30-28)...Coug leaders in that match were: (Rosin (15 kills, .423), Johnson (11 kills), Hyder (12 digs), Beyer (33 assists), Tara West (5 blocks).
