SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Washington State men's basketball senior Derrick Low placed third in the semifinal round at the Midas Touch 3-Point Championship at the 20th Anniversary State Farm 3-Point and Slam Dunk Championship held Thursday at St. Mary's University as one of the festivities surrounding the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four.
"It was a great experience" Low said following the competition. "For me it was more than winning or losing...it was about making new friends with all these guys and having fun. It was good to see all these players, I know a lot of them, so it was cool."
In the first round Low held second place with 20 points, advancing to the semifinals. As the third competitor in the semifinals, Low scored 15 points to place third in the group of four. Chris Lofton of Tennessee and Darnell Harris of LaSalle advanced to the championship round, where Harris picked up the title with 16 points in the final round.
Low's classmate Robbie Cowgill will represent the Cougars in the DiGiorno College All-Star Game Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m. PDT (5 p.m. local time) on CSTV.
