Cougar Golf Team Among Nation's Best

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Washington State University men's golf team is 28th in the first NCAA Head-to-Head rankings of the season.

The Cougars, who won the Palouse Cougar Collegiate in Pullman to open the season and tied for ninth at the Husky Invitational in Seattle earlier this week, are the third-highest rated Pac-10 team.

Individually, junior Trent Sanders is 23rd in the Golfstat Cup which ranks student-athletes by their average round score. Sanders has shot under par in each of his six rounds this fall and has owns an average of 69.83. He earned a fourth place finish in the season-opening event and finished tied for sixth in Seattle.

The Cougars are fourth in the Golfstat's Freshman Impact standings. Washington State is the top team in the West trailing Belmont, Furman and Austin Peay. Redshirt-freshman Cody Robinson and true freshman Kent Hagen have each been in the lineup for the first-two tournaments.

Robinson finished seventh in the opening tournament and has four rounds of par or better. Hagen was tied for 20th on his home course and also has four rounds of par or better this fall.

Washington State returns to competition at the Wolf Pack Classic in Stateline, Nev., Oct. 4-5.
