PULLMAN, Wash. - With the 2010 Cougar football season home opener Saturday against Montana State, Washington State University officials are reminding fans, friends and alumni returning to Pullman to be aware of changes they will see around Martin Stadium on gamedays.
Fans arriving on the Pullman campus will notice some immediate changes, including upgrades to Hollingbery Fieldhouse and the Rogers Practice Field. For the first time since it was built in 1929, the fieldhouse underwent an extensive cleanup, including painting the entire inside and ceiling.
Rogers Practice Field also underwent a nearly $1 million renovation as the latest version of FieldTurf was installed along with a new brick building on the south end that will house all football-related equipment.
The WSU Ticket Office, located in the NE corner of Martin Stadium, will continue to open three hours before kick-off. A new addition to the ticketing process this season will be WSU Athletics scanning tickets for fans entering Martin Stadium. Fans may still exit and re-enter, however, upon exiting fans must have their tickets scanned each time they leave. Ticket sales, general will call, and player-guest will call will be located at the ticket office on gameday. Recruit and High School coach will call will be located at Gate F and student ticket gameday sales will still take place at the student gate.
WSU Athletics and Parking Services will continue charging $10 on gameday to park in the Lewis Alumni Center Parking Lot and the Tennis Court Lot. In addition, WSU Athletics and Parking Services have made changes to RV parking for the upcoming season. A few of the changes include ingress traffic revisions for IPF and General RV parking as well as the ability to pre-purchase parking in the RV lot behind the Indoor Practice Facility. All general RV lots will cost $40 for the weekend.
Pullman Transit and WSU Athletics have teamed up to provide free gameday service available to spectators. Some of the routes have changed to provide an efficient service to guests.
The Food Fair will take place in Hollingbery Fieldhouse beginning three and a half hours prior to scheduled kick-off. A change this year includes the sale of spirits, in addition to beer and wine, in the Hollingbery Fieldhouse prior to the game. Again this season there is no postgame event in Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
Also new this season will be the Cougar Pride Walk. Rather than begin the walk in front of Hollingbery Fieldhouse as in past years, the team will arrive in front of the Cougar Pride Statue on Stadium Way and then walk between Martin Stadium and Mooberry Track as it makes its way through the fieldhouse prior to each home game. The Cougar Pride Walk will begin two hours prior to each game at Martin Stadium.
