VANCOUVER, British Columbia. - Washington State wrapped up competition at the UBC Thunderbird Cup Saturday, swimming to a second place overall finish with 49 points. Jane Copland earned the third spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:39.59) to lead Cougar individual scorers.
Cougar relay teams continue their strong performances as Katie Van Horne, Copland, Lindsay Backhouse, and Erin McCleave combined for a second place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (4:02.19). McCleave, along with Monika Povilonyte, Bryn Mooney and Afton Pickett posted a time of 4:28.10 besting the field in the 400 medley relay Friday as the Cougars dominated the relay events.
Pickett added a fourth place showing in the 200 backstroke (2:26.04) to her second place finish in the 100 backstroke in the first day of competition. McCleave added to the WSU points total, grabbing the fifth spot in the 100 freestyle while Byrn Mooney (100 butterfly) and Povilonyte (200 breaststroke) each posted fifth place finishes in their respective events.
Kayli Changstrom rounded out the Cougar scorers earning a fourth place finish in the 400 individual medley (5:05.06).
The Cougars head back to the states traveling to Seattle, Nov. 11 to take on cross-state rival Washington.
