PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University men's basketball student-athlete Charlie Enquist and former rower Natasha Ostopovich, the Cougars' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C) vice present and president, respectively, recently attended the Cougar Leadership Retreat (CLR) at Ross Point Camp in Post Falls, Idaho.

In its fifth year, the CLR is a three-day event for WSU student organizations to network, collaborate with one another and prepare for the academic year. The retreat aims to improve intercultural communications and strives to help groups form efficient partnerships. It's designed to allow Washington State students and staff to interact through a variety of workshops, breakout sessions and fun activities.

Enquist and Ostopovich attended workshops learning skills such as running an affective meeting and improving communication. The two also had the opportunity to meet new people in similar leadership positions from different organizations on campus, including the Associated Students of WSU (ASWSU). The new connections gave Enquist and Ostopovich the opportunity to exchange ideas and come up with better ways to promote WSU Athletics.

"Attending the CLR was a great opportunity for Natasha and me," Enquist said. "We learned a lot from our peers and the other organizations on campus that were represented at the retreat. We also made some new connections that will benefit WSU Athletics as a whole."

This year marked the first time Cougar Athletics was represented with Enquist and Ostopovich from S.A.A.C. S.A.A.C. is a committee made up of student-athletes from each of WSU's varsity sports and is assembled to provide insight on student-athlete experiences and to offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
