While MLB players are counting down to Opening Day, minor league players are working out, playing intrasquad games and trying to make a team in their organization.

For eight former Cougars, the Cactus League in Arizona is their spring home. Matt Argyropoulos (Colorado), Alex Burg (San Francisco), Seth Harvey (Milwaukee), Matt Oye (Los Angeles, AL), Jared Prince (Texas), Shea Vucinich (Milwaukee), Travis Webb (Cincinnati) and Michael Weber (Arizona) are each awaiting their assignment for the 2012 season.

Argyropoulos is in his first spring training after being drafted by the Rockies last summer.

Burg is set to enter his third full season after hitting 14 home runs for Advanced A San Jose in 2011 and playing winter ball in Australia.

Harvey has posted a 2.60 ERA in 55 1/3 innings in his first two professional seasons.

Oye played at three levels last season, including a start with AAA Salt Lake.

Prince collected 39 extra-base hits for Advanced A Myrtle Beach in 2011 while batting .282.

Vucinich played for Advanced A Brevard County in 2011, his first-full season in the minors.

Webb played most of last season at AA Carolina before getting a taste of AAA Louisville. He also played in the Arizona Fall League during the offseason.

Weber is recovering from a knee injury he suffered in the 2010-11 offseason that cost him all of 2011.
