JUNCTION CITY, Ore. --- Washington State senior Jon Reehoorn captured individual medalist honors by firing a final-round 67, helping the Cougars to a second-place finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational.

Reehoorn, who was one stroke off the lead after the first day of the event, went five under par on Tuesday to take a two-shot victory over Scott Gordon of UC Davis. It was Reehoorn's first individual win since the Inland Collegiate Challenge in March of 1999.

"Jon played awesome," WSU head coach Walt Williams said. "He was in third place entering today and really turned in a good performance going 10-under for the tournament."

Reehoorn is the third Cougar to win a tournament this year. Dustin White captured the Coastal Carolina Invitational earlier this month, while sophomore Isaac Woods won the Inland Collegiate Challenge to begin the spring season.

"We've got the best depth we've had," Williams said. "We have five guys who are capable of winning an event."

The Cougars received another top 10 performance from White, who finished seventh with a three-round 212. It was White's fifth top 10 in seven events this season.

Reehoorn, White, and a 19th place finish by sophomore Ryan Camp brought WSU within a stroke of winning its third tournament of the season. Oregon earned the team medal with a three-round total of 849.

WSU should improve upon its No. 22 GolfStat ranking after knocking off five top 50 teams at the Shadow Hills Country Club this week. The Cougars finished ahead of No. 19 San Diego State, No. 23 Nevada, No. 27 Arizona, No. 38 Stanford, and No. 39 UCLA.

"This is one of the strongest tournament fields we have played in this year," Williams said. "We beat five teams ranked in the top 50. To finish second, one shot back of Oregon on its home course is pretty impressive. Two years ago we finished last at this same tournament on the same course, so obviously we are making great progress."

Up next for Washington State is the Shocker Invitational in Wichita, Kan. April 8-9.
